Graston Technique
The Health Care Center is now offering Graston Technique.  Graston technique utilizes special instruments that effectively break down scar tissue and reduce inflammation that causes pain and restricted mobility. The stainless steel instruments comb over and "catch" on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies areas of restriction.  The instruments enable clinicians to treat soft tissue lesions with the depth, pressure and specificity necessary to affect the condition at the site of the pain, as well as following the kinetic chain to find and treat the cause. Once the tissue dysfunction has been identified, the instruments break up the scar tissue so it can be absorbed by the body. By incorporating stretching, strengthening and ice in the treatment and rehab process, clinicians can rebuild the soft tissue injury into healthy functioning tissue. Graston Technique is clinically proven to achieve quicker and better outcomes in treating: Achilles tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain, tennis elbow, back pain, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff tendonitis, scar tissue, and many more conditions. The Graston Technique has had positive outcomes in 75-90 percent of all conditions treated! It is equally effective in restoring function to acute and chronic injuries, and pre– and post surgical patients.

Spinal Manipulative Therapy - A Winner For Defeating Neck Pain!

A new study funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services has shown spinal manipulative therapy (SMT), the primary therapy administered by doctors of chiropractic, to be superior in the treatment of neck pain in the elderly population. A total of 241 individuals aged 65 years and older with a primary complaint of mechanical neck pain present for 12 weeks or longer participated in the study. Participants receiving 12 weeks of SMT coupled with home exercises (HE) experienced statistically better pain relief than those participants who utilized HE alone. If you’re suffering from neck pain or any spinal pain, even if you’re over the age of 65, call your local chiropractor today for a no obligation consultation to see what chiropractic care might be able to offer you!

Chiropractic Adjustments And Your Safety

Chiropractic adjustments, also known as spinal manipulative therapy or spinal manipulation, are a natural, non-invasive and extremely safe form of therapy provided by licensed doctors of chiropractic. Each doctor of chiropractic goes through rigorous and extensive hands on training including the passing of national and state board examinations to ensure their expertise and competency in evaluating, diagnosing and treating spinal ailments and other health related conditions is at a high level. From time to time, stories in the media attempt to circumvent truth and what research has shown by suggesting that chiropractic adjustments may not be completely safe. We find claims challenging chiropractic’s safety record unprofessional and unfounded based on what medical research has already proven. For example, one of the largest and most credible studies related to chiropractic safety and related neck injuries, Cassidy et al., found that a patient is as likely to have seen a primary care medical doctor as a doctor of chiropractic prior to experiencing a cervical arterial injury. The truth is chiropractic care is extremely safe and medical research backs this. If you or someone you know is in need of chiropractic services, rest assured in knowing chiropractic care and chiropractic adjustments are not only effective, they’re one of the safest health-related procedures offered by any healthcare discipline.

Neck Pain In The Office

Results from a newly published study indicate neck pain and disability in the workplace has an exceedingly high occurrence rate. In this year long study consisting of over 500 healthy office workers, 23 percent reported neck pain with disability. Factors that increased the likelihood of experiencing neck pain and disability included a previous history of neck pain, chair adjustability and perceived muscular tension. While it’s obviously impossible to eliminate a past history of neck problems, ensuring that you receive the proper care for new neck problems and ensuring you have a high quality work chair with appropriate adjustments for proper posture and comfort are important. Chiropractors are experts highly skilled and trained in proper function and conditioning of the spine and it’s components - this includes the neck, back and lower back. If you’re having issues with your neck or back, or just wish to have a spinal check-up, call your local doctor of chiropractic today!
